So, I suppose to answer this question of "traditional high fantasy," we have to consider the era. If we're referring back decades to The Lord of the Rings, or even further back to The Once and Future King, I rebel against their pacing. In contrast, though, the past 10-15 years have redefined the meaning of "traditional." We live in an "instant everything" world, so it's no surprise that modern society demands fast-paced novels, too. So if we're referring to our era, I don't rebel against pacing at all. I fit right in. To me, every second is worth a gold piece. I can't afford to squander any of it.
